My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
A few days ago I read a book by Alex Michaelides entitled The Silent Patient which genre was psychological thriller. When I was reading this book I thought it's easy to know who the antagonist was, but I was totally wrong. The plot twist was indeed incredible! For some reasons, this book now becomes my second favorite book after A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle. At first I had no plans to read The Silent Patient, but I inadvertently found it in one of my friend's instagram story. Then I decided to read it as I had nothing to do LOL. This is the first novel about psychology that I read so I've no idea whether I'm gonna like it or not. But surprisingly this book will indeed make you can't sleep because it's vey compelling. Some people who really love mystery and have read many mystery books may be easily guess the end of the story but still this book is worth to read. Not only about mystery, you're going to realize that psychology can affect someone's life that great.
Alicia, the main character, was an amazing artist before she turned into the murderer of her husband. After that incident, she never spoke again. There was Theo Faber, a psychotherapist who obsessed to take care of Alicia. I thought something's wrong about him since I started reading the book, but I got no evidence. He was such kind of good and caring man. And that's true. He wanted to help people out of their problems. Let's say he's trully a good man.
I can't review too much about this book as I don't want to give you any spoiler, but I really recommend this book. Not only mystery, this book also gives us a lot of knowledge about inner child. Inner child is something we experienced in the past, and unconsciously it affects how we think about ourselves, how we face our problems, and many other things in our lives. I never knew if inner child can affect someone's life that much. Finally, I give 4.5/5 stars to this book. Well, that's pretty high, isn't it?
*If you decided to read the book, please pay attention to every characters and every little words they said. It would be necessary 😉
